The Evening Primrose

I would live a double life,
The Evening Primrose would be my choice,
To live for just a time so brief,
Yet lasting for ever, I will rejoice.
To see the look of wonder,
As children pause and ponder
To see my tiny buds in seconds explode
Revealing my flowers brilliant golden mode.
To live for just long enough to see,
One glorious sunset, one awakening dawn,
Before dropping to the ground, now free,
Knowing that dozens more will take my place.
Even when my flowers are gone,
I still live and help in humans health,
Withoput thought of personal wealth,
Assisting the living , and those not yet born.
Written for a poetry website challenge entitled ‘What flower I would be?’
I chose the evening Primrose; noted for it’s beauty and short prolific bursts of flower, and of course it has medicinal properties.
