Seasons

Spring: an avalanche of new birth,
Flowers, and trees, in new life burst out,
The birds, and creatures all on earth,
Thrusting, singing to mature before summer’s drought.
Summer: A slower pace for all to show their beauty,
Perfume wafting, pollinating, on a gentle breeze,
Flowers in hedgerows, fields and gardens,
Fulfilling themselves before Autumn storms start to tease.
Autumn: Days shorten, nights get cooler,
Some brave flowers hang on defiantly,
Most drop off, as the leaves change colour,
Soon winter frosts will take over completely.
Winter:The earth now hard, covered in frost,
The trees stripped bare in dormant mood,
Leaves lay thick turning to compost,
In spring they succour their roots with nature’s food.
